Citywide Spring Street Sweeping

Citywide Spring Street Sweeping
Posted on 04/17/2025

Citywide spring street sweeping is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 21. Sweepers will start in the northwest and southeast corners of the city, working towards the center. The sweeping process will take approximately one week to complete.

Street sweeping is essential for protecting wetlands, lakes, and streams from the trash, salt, and debris that accumulate on streets and in gutters throughout the year.

AVOID PARKING ON STREETS
If possible, please refrain from parking on the street during the day. Sweeping crews can do their jobs more effectively when vehicles do not obstruct access to the curb.

KEEP GRASS AND LEAVES IN YOUR YARD
If you are doing spring yard cleanup, please remember that it is against New Hope City Code to dispose of grass, leaves or other yard waste in the street or gutter. Grass clippings, leaves, and other materials can harm our local wetlands, lakes and streams by contributing to water pollution. These materials may wash into storm drains and ultimately into waterways, leading to nutrient enrichment, algae blooms and reduced oxygen levels, which can harm aquatic life. Additionally, grass clippings can clog storm drains, potentially causing water to build up on roadways.
