The City of New Hope requires certain businesses and activities to obtain a license before operating in the city. Most business licenses are valid for one calendar year, Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, and must be renewed annually. License applications and renewals are subject to City Council approval.

Business License Types
The City requires licenses or registrations for the following businesses and activities:
- Bowling alleys
- Car washes
- Charitable gambling
- Door-to-door solicitation
- Dry cleaning and laundering
- Farm produce (seasonal outdoor sales)
- Fireworks (retail)
- Garbage and refuse collection
- Gasoline stations
- Lawn fertilizer application
- Liquor sales
- Mobile food units
- Pawnbrokers, precious metal dealers and secondhand dealers
- Sexually oriented businesses
- Tattoo establishments
- Therapeutic massage
- Tobacco products
- Trailer and truck rentals
- Video games and pool tables
Business License Renewals
Businesses renewing a license with the City of New Hope must complete and submit a Tax ID Form as part of the renewal process. This form is required in addition to any other documents specific to the license type.
