Business Licensing

The City Clerk’s office manages all business and liquor licenses in New Hope. They handle both new applications and renewals, making sure that local businesses have the licenses they need to operate legally and stay up to date.

Animal licenses, such as those for dogs, cats and ferrets, are handled by the Police Department.

Liquor Licenses

Liquor License Application Packets
Packets can be downloaded from “Business Licenses” (above). The license year is January 1 through December 31. Most licenses require a minimum of 60 days to process. Licenses are non-transferrable.

Hours and Days for Liquor Sales
No sale of intoxicating liquor for consumption on the licensed premises may be made between the hours of 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Monday through Saturday (MS 340A.504).

A restaurant, club, bowling center, or hotel which holds an on-sale intoxicating liquor license may sell intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises in conjunction with the sale of food between the hours of 8 a.m. on Sundays and 2 a.m. on Mondays. An establishment serving intoxicating liquor on Sundays must obtain a Sunday On-Sale Liquor License (MS 340A.504). No licensee may sell intoxicating liquor on-sale between the hours of 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. unless the licensee has obtained a permit from the Commissioner of Public Safety.

Off sale liquor sales are prohibited:

  • Before 8 a.m. or after 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday
  • Before 11 a.m. or after 6 p.m. on Sunday
  • On Thanksgiving Day
  • On Christmas Day, December 25; and
  • After 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24
