Yes. The City of New Hope policy enables residents to request the placement or alteration of a traffic control sign. To begin the process, a resident must complete a traffic control request application and petition. When a petition is received the police chief, public works director and city engineer will investigate the request. If that investigation reveals that a traffic problem does not exist no further action will be taken. If the findings of the investigation verify a traffic problem does exist the public works director will prepare a report containing the findings and make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council will consider action on the request at a regular meeting.

Streets are swept once in the spring and once in the fall. Areas near priority bodies of water like Northwood Lake and Meadow Lake are swept more frequently.

The plows have no control over how much snow is placed in resident driveways. The volume will vary depending on the amount of snowfall. Some residents may have more snow plowed into their driveway than their neighbors, this is because of the drifting of snow prior to plowing, or because of how the plows operate. Plow drivers have no control over how much snow is piled at resident driveways, and it is the resident's responsibility to remove piled snow from driveways.

The street supervisor will assess the damage to determine if the mailbox was damaged by a mechanical piece of the snow plow or if the mailbox was damaged by the weight of the snow. Most mailbox damage is from the lack of maintenance, such as a rotted post. Residents are responsible for clearing snow that piles in front of the mailbox post. 

Most cul-de-sacs have limited snow storage with driveways, mailboxes and fire hydrants occupying most of the possible snow storage areas. Because of limited storage in some yards, other homes do receive more snow. Plow drivers are responsible for getting all of the snow off of the street.

Parks maintenance staff picks up trash once a week year round from the trash receptacles in city parks. At times, trash cans may be overflowing due to unexpected high use. During the summer months all of the ballfields are dragged at least once per week. If for some reason there is an excess amount of plant material growing in the ball field, please report the issue to the public works department at 763-592-6777 or by using the city's online reporting system.
